The station began its broadcast activity at slightly reduced power as some difficulties were encountered in the directional testing, but the FCC granted the station the authority to begin broadcasting at reduced power.\n\nStation manager Doug Johnson also greeted listeners eager for a daily news source in Jackson County, and Dave Maschoff gave the first newscast on the new station.\nJohnson has been with the station since its inception.
